Lego Model

Guided by their coaches and mentors, students design and build a Lego model with one moving part that reflects their research they did on the real world topic for that year.

Using the We Do 2 software on the provided tablet, the students learn to program the moving parts of their display.

Poster

Students create a “Show Me” poster on their research they did, Core Values they learned, and the fun they had!

This can be done on a tri-fold and can include pictures of their research and their team.

What FLL Explore Involves

TEAM STRUCTURE

Teams consist of 4-6 children aged 4K-3rd grade

Teams have 2 adult coaches / mentors

Teams meet for 1 hour per week to research and build

The team decides where and how long to meet, but it must be in a public place and not at home

ACTIVITIES

Teams come up with a team name and design their own team T-shirt to wear at the competition

Each team builds a 15" x 15" display with one moving part that reflects a real-world issue in that year's theme released by FIRST

The team creates a show me poster/trifold to document their journey through the season and what they learned

Teams learn core values and add them to their show me poster

COMPETITION

Teams attend the FLL Explore Expo at Lakeshore Technical College

At the Expo, teams tell judges about their projects

Teams will compete in either the morning or afternoon session on either Saturday, November 11 or Sunday, November 12
